First Appointment

We're over the 9 week mark and had our first OB appointment!

I LOVE my doctor.
I LOVE this baby.
I LOVE watching my husband's excitement on this journey.

Here's our first picture of our perfect little baby! I was actually lying down and couldn't see the monitor at first. So, I got to watch Tony's and my mom's reactions as the picture popped up on the screen. One of the coolest moments ever! We got a cool little tour of everything going on in there. We also got to see the little heart beating in the chest. It was so surreal. I'm still in shock, but this makes all of this feel even more real! Just so amazing.

[The head is on the left, the body is on the right with 2 little arms and 2 little legs.]

Here's a "virtual" picture from my app. The baby is now the size of a grape. The head is gigantic at stage. Big head = Big brains. Hopefully?!

These "sisters and brother" have no idea what they're in for!
They truly are the most well behaved dogs ever- they're smart and listen well... but I think it'll still be a little bit of an interesting adjustment.

8.5 Weeks!

Easter weekend was so much fun! We loved being able to tell more family and see their reactions! Hopefully I can eventually upload the video of my family playing the "Easter game" which revealed the news!

Here's a fun questionnaire I'll be answering throughout the pregnancy!

How far along?
8.5 weeks

Baby's Size?
The size of a jelly bean or big raspberry, depending on the source

Boy or Girl?
We don't know; I had a dream it was triplets, and in another dream it was a (very scary interesting looking) boy with a name that we're currently really liking. Quite a few family members have mentioned twins, which is kind of making me nervous! We'll just have to wait and see.

Fun Facts About Baby?
Neural tube has closed. The brain is rapidly developing and a full nervous system is being organized. The arms and legs are continuing to form from little stumps. Mommy is so happy every time she opens her favorite pregnancy app and sees that the baby is looking more like a real baby now.

How is Mommy Doing?
  • Symptoms?   No real morning sickness, very occasionally some: nausea, headache/dizzy feeling and shortness of breath. Bloated like a big balloon! Trying to increase activity and take walks around the neighborhood.
  • Mood?  It's almost time for finals so Mommy is stressed! Some days I'm a little more grouchy than I should be. Sometimes I can hear a random song on the radio and start crying. It's a roller coaster. One consistent "mood" is feeling very tired!
  • Cravings?  No cravings, mostly just food aversions. Trying really hard to eat healthy foods (no Diet Coke!), but sometimes unhealthy things just sound a lot better.
  • Dreams? Weirdest dreams ever! Some are funny: President Obama wanted a break from the Secret Service so he got this really old beat up green Intrepid and took Tony and me for a drive around town to be "normal"; he wasn't used to driving and was the worst driver evvverrr! Some dreams are (very) sad: I had a dream that I was having a miscarriage. [I was really glad to wake up from that one!] Some dreams are just bizarre: there were holes in the walls of the house where I could see antique dolls and doll body parts hanging from ropes. Also, Blake Shelton and Ellen have been in a couple funny dreams.
  • Body Differences? Mommy approves of a bigger chest! My bladder has never felt so small!

How is Daddy Doing?  He is doing such a great job of looking after me; always asks me how I'm feeling, makes sure I'm not eating/doing things that are no-no's and makes sure I take my vitamins, helps out with cleaning and cooking when he can. He's excited for the baby and very nurturing.

How's the Nursery?  Definitely not that far yet, although I do have some cute ideas forming! We've decided which room will be the nursery, but we're still trying to decide how we're going rearrange the other room to be a guest room and an office.

We're Looking Forward To:  Our OB appointment this week. Making the news "public"! ...AND Mommy is very very excited to go to LA for the Ellen Mother's Day Show!!!

6 Weeks!

We've started telling family and it's been so much fun! But telling people around April Fool's Day isn't the easiest... we sent Tony's siblings a text ON April Fool's Day because we didn't want to wait any longer and none of them believed us so we had to send a text the next day and tell them it was April 2 and we were still pregnant!! Haha! We're waiting until Easter weekend to tell family in Tulsa because we want to be there in person and make it special. We have some fun ideas for revealing the news to them!

Overall, I'm feeling pretty good! I've had a few annoying little prego side effects, and I've been exhausted, but no morning sickness yet! ...Keeping those fingers crossed!
