My Old High Chair

Grandmom had Mommy's high chair from when I was little redone!

It's so cool to see you in this chair (and what an adorable smile!!). I can't wait to see how many babies will get to enjoy this high chair in the years to come!

Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the YEAR!! Merry Christmas!

We are so thankful to have been in Tulsa this month for all the fun & festivities of the Christmas season this year. Our hearts are full. We've had SO much fun-- family, friends, Christmas lights, Christmas music, meeting Santa (the second attempt was so much better), plaid pjs, and even a couple great date nights!! Life with a child brings a new perspective to everything-- It's so fun and exciting to experience these things and watch the wonder and excitement in your eyes.

We love all the festivities, but let's never forget the little babe of Bethlehem.
I can't help but hold my own baby and think of Mary. Her thoughts, her feelings, her surroundings.
Just a mom, giving birth to a little baby.... but, oh, so much more. The miracle of it all.
Mary, Did You Know?

Rotation Recap: Emergency Medicine

I told Tony that he should journal after each rotation so he can look back at all the pro's and cons. I don't know if he'll actually do it, but I thought I'd write down some of my thoughts....
after all, one of these will be the career path he chooses!

Emergency Medicine:
TULSA!!!!!! <--- Need I say anything more?!?
I think EM was a great learning and growing experience for him. He had lots of experience stitching people, helping with procedures, and truly growing as a doctor and learning.
Pro: lots of different stories, different people, and only 8 hour shifts. Cons: some stories are absolutely heartbreaking, some patients are awful, it's high stress, and the shifts are all over the place (so glad E and I could be with family during overnight shifts).

Do I think this will be his career?
No. I think he will probably moonlight in an ER, but I don't think this would be a very good full-time career.

Now for Christmas break!!!     (VERY GOOD THING.)
Then we move into Surgery.    (VERY BAD THING.)

ONE. YEAR. OLD.

HOW does time go by so quickly??
I feel like this was just yesterday.
Mommy needs a Kleenex.

A year ago, a perfect little bundle of joy made me a mom, and in that instant my life changed forever. It's been the best year of my life. I've watched and cheered for so many firsts, I've rocked and sang through many hours of the nights, I've worried over the smallest things, I've laughed and made the silliest noises, and most importantly, each and every day for 365 days, I've thanked God for giving me this amazing, happy, silly, bundle of energy to love. Elliott, you make my heart so happy.

Happy First Birthday, Elliott Beau Dreier!!

You are the best thing to ever happen to us. It's been a year full of happiness, smiles, and love.
You have blessed us beyond words and we love you more than you will ever know!
You are our greatest adventure, buddy.

We've had a fun month, a really fun birthday party, and adorable one year pictures taken!
Elliott showed up to his own party fast asleep but once he woke up he had a blast eating and playing. We saved the cake for that evening since we knew it would need to be followed with a bath.
This year has been such a fun adventure and exceeded all our dreams of parenthood.
