Elliott,
I never knew being a mommy would bring me such happiness. Every single day with you brings so many smiles and laughs. You are changing so much and your little personality is really starting to shine; you smile, laugh and "talk" so much. It's my favorite thing in the world! Every day when I sing "You Are My Sunshine" I really meant it, you ARE my sunshine, my buddy, my perfect boy. Sometimes I just stare at you in awe of how one little boy could change me in so many big ways. You are growing so fast. I wish I could slow down time. I truly savor moments every day with you because I know that I will really miss them later on down the road. You are starting to really love rocking in your room and those are some of the most peaceful and sentimental moments for me. I never want to forget how your little head rests perfectly in my arms or how your little hand always has to lay up against my chest or grab ahold of my shirt. In those quiet moments I daydream of all the days ahead we will have as I watch you grow up. You are the best thing in the world. Thank you for 2 amazing months!
Happy New Year! We celebrated the New Year by having a nice dinner with Grandmom, Grandpop, and Christopher... then you, me and daddy stayed in at Gmom and Gpop's while everyone else went out to meet friends. {Funny-- Mommy has a baby and then it's she who is staying up waiting for her parents to get home late at night!}We also had a really fun Christmas/New Years party with our Med School Family. They were so happy to see you! ....And we were happy to see all of them, too!
Daddy started back to school so now it's just you and me, Buddy! Well, kind of.... he's not gone nearly as much these days! He says this class is "easy" so he spends mornings here with you (while I get extra sleep) and then goes to study in the afternoons. He's been doing a great job of balancing everything on his plate. He says you're the best motivation to do well in school. Someday all of this hard work will pay off!
You stayed with Gmom and Gpop while Mommy and Daddy went out and enjoyed a date night at the Garth Brooks concert. It was the BEST concert EVER! Don't you worry, little man, you'll be hearing a lot of Garth Brooks as you grow up! He's Mommy's favorite. Remember that "Mom" song that used to make me cry so hard when I was pregnant and then I'd tell you how excited I was to meet you? That was Garth! (He didn't play the song at the concert though.)
We took you out for your first hockey game! It was a little louder than we remembered... as in, like, really loud. Every time the team would score we'd hurry and put the blanket up around your head to muffle the bull horn siren that would go off after a goal! You did great the entire time!
I had my post-natal check up. After 7 weeks, I'm still have some healing left to do. I just need to be careful, take it easy, and let my body do its healing the rest of the way. Ugh, what a pain! {Literally!} Dr. J says hopefully within the next few weeks I'll be feeling better.
I turned 29! It was an awesome day! And to think... I was scared I would be 30 before I ever became a mama. So glad you could be here to celebrate with us!
You had your 2 month check up. You are 12lbs 11oz and 23.5in! You are growing so so fast! Holding back tears, in disbelief of how small you once were, I officially packed away all the newborn clothes. You're now wearing 0-3 month clothes and even some of the footed pajamas are a little small, both length wise and in the feet. At your appointment you got your 2 month vaccines. Vaccines is a huge topic of debate in the country right now. I will refrain from writing a novel, but there has been a Measles outbreak so we were ready to get you started on your shots. As your mom and dad we believe our job is to protect you the best we can, and even though it's hard watching you get shots, it would be absolutely traumatic and devastating to put you at risk and watch you go through something that was 100% preventable and unnecessary. God created science and very smart scientists for a reason!
PS- The picture of the book is the book your dad ordered. He is such an AWESOME guy. He's been so amazing to both of us these past couple months as we've been adjusting as a little family of 3.
Some of my favorite pictures from the past month:
