Selling and House Hunting

Such a bittersweet week.  We've been house shopping and our house is going on the market. In 9 years it has seen so much of our lives and, oh, if only walls could talk; some of the hardest days and some of the happiest days have happened here. I truly love our little home so much, and even though I know it's time to move on... I'm still sad. We got it in such a horrible pre-foreclosure state and through tons of work and projects, I feel like we brought out its potential and breathed life into it again... and eventually created a family here to enjoy it and outgrow it. I've always known there are nicer, bigger homes out in this world, but I've truly been happy, content, and comfortable here. I wish I could meet every potential buyer and choose the ones who will love it as much as we have.
I'm also a little scared... What if there's something wrong with it and we don't know (as in, when it comes to inspections)? What if nobody wants to buy it? What if we have to come way down on the price just to get it sold? I'm excited and anxious to see how this all goes! 


As far as homes we are looking at. Let's just put it out there- I AM PICKY. I have a certain style and feel for a house that I really like and there are lots of houses around here that just aren't it. Why? Am I weird?? I like white and gray. I don't like brown. I like open, sunlight, and tall ceilings. And, I like CLEAN. Online, I've looked at every.single.house in the entire OKC metro. We've looked at a handful in person and have narrowed it down to 2: we call them Canyonwood Lane and Hartsmill Road.

I didn't like Canyonwood Lane in pictures as much as I did in person. It really surprised me. A couple things really bother me and that are on our "we really don't want" list: retaining wall in the back, sloped driveway, and fence in front yard... but it's, overall, really nice. We like this neighborhood, this side of town-- super easy to get to Tony's work, and with some paint (like... paint every single room! haha) it could be really great. It has a great layout, nice upgrades, good master bath with awesome master closet, storm shelter in 3 car garage, big windows, a nice backyard... it's a pretty good house!


 




Hartsmill Road has more square feet (and a lower listing price, even though it doesn't really feel like less sq ft.) and is nice. The backyard is definitely not as nice, it only has a 2 car garage with no storm shelter, it has some brass fixtures (I swore I would never have brass again!), no neighborhood pool... BUT it has a neighborhood playground a few houses down, we would have family across the street, I really love the open kitchen, it would have a big play room for the kids, the master isn't as separated from the other bedrooms, the style is good... it's pretty good too.
