I wanted to keep these even though I have a real strong love/hate relationship with them. I think it's great that the hospital does this to try and be more personal and build baby/parent relationships. The nurses kind of have a template to fill out and the emails are sent out every morning around 6am. The only problem is, they weren't always completely accurate and I really hated waking up and finding out info about my child when I had only been gone a few hours to go sleep at night. Like the morning I woke up to read "35ml by tube".... WHY did you all of a sudden have a feeding tube?!? What happened?! Is everything okay?! Come to find out the nurse was new, had never been your nurse before, didn't know how well you were taking feedings, and just went by the standard/recommended protocol that if respiratory rates were above a certain number then babies should get a feeding tube.... but that wasn't a very great decision based on particular patient or helpful in moving forward with improvement because we wouldn't want you getting reliant on a tube and stop taking feedings so well. The next nurse that came on at 7am removed it and you took all your other feedings by bottle or breast. Also reading an email and finding out you had to be put back on oxygen was pretty disappointing. I asked them repeatedly to call if ANYTHING changed at all; I understand they're busy but an email "from my baby" isn't the way I want to know there was a change in care. Oh, well. It's at least good to look back and see your weight gain, feedings, and overall be able to help remember the days. Thankfully we only had a week of these emails. It makes me so sad to think there are parents who have many many weeks, or even months of these emails.

(4.6 oz) from yesterday's weight. My nurses and doctors are not concerned at
this point about my weight since changes in the first days of life are mainly
related to changes in the amount of water in my body.
I was fed once yesterday and I took 15 ml. I received a total amount of 15 ml for the day. A fluid oz is about 30 ml so this is about 0.5 oz. I nipple fed 100% of my intake. My last feeding was at midnight and I took 15 ml by nipple. I can't figure out when my next feeding will be, so check with my nurse.

(2.5 oz) from yesterday's weight. Hey!! Weight loss happens at this stage. Give
me a few days and I'll show you what I can do.
I was fed 9 times yesterday and I took 17-44 ml at each feeding. I also nursed twice. I received a total amount of 258 ml for the day. A fluid oz is about 30 ml so this is about 8.7 oz. Aside from breastfeeding, I nipple fed 100% of my intake. My last feeding was at 5 AM and I took 25 ml by nipple. I can't figure out when my next feeding will be, so check with my nurse.
My last bilirubin was 10.0 on 1/31 at 3 AM and my nurse seemed very pleased with this result.
I had 1 apnea/bradycardia spell yesterday, and I've had none so far today.

day over the past 3 days. I'm supposed to lose weight at this age because my
body is adjusting to this new life.
I was fed 9 times yesterday and I took 10-45 ml at each feeding. I also nursed 3 times. I received a total amount of 240 ml for the day. A fluid oz is about 30 ml so this is about 8.1 oz. Aside from breastfeeding, I nipple fed 58% of my intake. My last feeding was at 5 AM and I was given 35 ml by tube. I can't figure out when my next feeding will be, so check with my nurse.

per day over the past 3 days. Weight changes in the first days of life aren't
too meaningful because I'm mainly adjusting the amount of water in my body.
I was fed 6 times yesterday and I took 25-50 ml at each feeding. I also nursed 3 times. I received a total amount of 195 ml for the day. A fluid oz is about 30 ml so this is about 6.6 oz. Aside from breastfeeding, I nipple fed 100% of my intake. My last feeding was at 11 PM and I took 50 ml by nipple. My next feeding should be around 3 AM.
As of 8 PM, I was on oxygen tubing with 21% oxygen. I had no apnea/bradycardia spell yesterday, and I've had none so far today.

Since yesterday morning, I pooped 7 times and the last time was around 5 AM.
